YOUTH DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Shuswap Community Church has been serving Jesus and our community for over 90 years. We exist to declare and demonstrate the transforming power of the gospel. Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

We are a church with an average attendance of between 500-550 people that we accommodate in two Sunday morning worship gatherings. We are seeking a faithful and relationally engaged  Youth Director who will lead our young people deeper into Jesus and further on mission. This person will directly oversee the Youth ministries and act as a member of the staff team.

Purpose of this position:
To provide oversight and leadership to the Youth ministries of Shuswap Community Church. To see those ministered to grow to maturity in Christ in a relational context, and moved to engage with Jesus on mission.

Qualifications:
● Aligns with and commits to the leadership, vision, mission and doctrine of SCC.
● The gospel dictates ministry to both believers and unbelievers.
● Holds to the authority of scripture in their life and teaching.
● Has an undergraduate degree in biblical studies/youth ministry.
● Having experience in church leadership is an asset, and first attention will be given to candidates of that nature.

Reports to:
Lead Pastor

Coaches:
● Youth ministry staff and volunteers
● Youth via hands-on ministry in those areas (ie. students and student leaders)

Specific responsibilities:
● Running the weekly youth programs directly
● Sunday morning ministry/duties as required
● Recruiting and training staff for the youth ministry
● Ongoing personal development via courses, seminars, etc.
● Ensure safety/risk management process is applied to youth ministry
● Proposing and overseeing related budget lines
● Providing required reports to pastor and board
● Opportunity to expand responsibilities/role as growth occurs and/or need arises
